How License Fees Are Calculated

You can use the information below to determine an approximate cost for your project, but we recommend adding your slice(s) to the cart and selecting the license options from the drop-down menus because the cart will calculate the exact total price for your footage.

Documentary, Museum, Non-broadcast, Etc.

As per your rights selections, the license fee is calculated by the total seconds ordered, not per slice, although there is a project or episode license minimum for all uses below. Note that except for up to five frames, we round up on video frames to the next second for billing. We add a small handle or padding on each side of every slice.

 

ALL MEDIA EXCEPT FOR DOCUMENTARY THEATRICAL RELEASE

There is a $539 license minimum per project (or per episode, if for docu-series). The rate is $49 per second for regular rate footage and $79 for premium. It includes all rights, excluding theatrical release, worldwide and in perpetuity. This rate also includes film festival and internet plus in-context advertising and promotion.

 

ALL MEDIA INCLUDING DOCUMENTARY THEATRICAL RELEASE

There is a $1003 project license minimum per project (or per episode, if for docu-series). The rate is $59 per second for regular rate footage and $79 for premium. It includes all rights, including theatrical release, worldwide and in perpetuity. This rate also includes film festival and internet plus in-context advertising and promotion.

ALL MEDIA INCLUDING BRANDED DOCUMENTARY RELEASE

A branded documentary is a documentary project funded by a corporate entity to provide exposure and advertising value to the funder, in addition to informational or entertainment value for audiences. There is a $1078 project license minimum per project (or per episode, if for docu-series). The rate is $98 per second for regular rate footage and $158 for premium. It includes all rights, including theatrical release, worldwide and in perpetuity. This rate also includes film festival and internet plus in-context advertising and promotion. 
 

Scripted Television

As per your rights selections, the license fee is calculated by the slice up to seven seconds per slice at $1,200 per slice for regular rate footage. Note that except for up to five frames (and after the seven second minimum), we round up on video frames to the next second for billing. We add a small handle or padding on each side of every slice. This rate provides for all rights, all media, excluding theatrical release, worldwide and in perpetuity. This rate also includes film festival and internet plus in-context advertising and promotion.
